Description
MGF (Mechano Growth Factor) is a naturally occurring splice variant of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) released in response to muscle damage and mechanical stress. It acts as a localized repair factor, activating satellite cells to promote tissue regeneration, protein synthesis, and recovery.
How MGF Works

- Muscle Repair: MGF acts as a “first responder,” signaling muscle stem cells to divide and fuse with damaged muscle fibers, promoting hypertrophy and recovery.
- Isoform Differences: Unlike systemic IGF-1 which focuses on continuous protein synthesis, MGF has a unique C-terminal “E-domain” allowing it to act on muscles independently to stimulate progenitor cell proliferation.
- Half-life: Unmodified MGF is rapidly degraded in the bloodstream, often giving it a half-life of only a few minutes
